JMG’s East Jordan Student Represents Region in D.C.

EAST JORDAN — An East Jordan High School student was chosen to be one of three students from Northern Michigan to travel to Washington, D.C., as part of the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) National Student Leadership Academy.

Jared Piechan, a senior, is the first from the school to be chosen for the program. The leadership program took place Nov. 29-Dec. 1. More than 850 students from around the country took part in the leadership academy.

“It’s through our Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program that we’re teaming up with Northwest Michigan Works! and Char-Em ISD to really kind of integrate our students and the workforce to create connections,” said Matt Stevenson, East Jordan superintendent. “This was a leadership opportunity (Jared) earned and was chosen for.”
