Saylar enrolled in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program seeking academic assistance and credit recovery. Once in the program, Saylar opened up about being bullied and that he was seeking a sense of belonging. With dedication from his specialist and his own hard work, Saylar found his place and emerged as a leader, assisting with diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, and heading up the graduation committee, among other accomplishments. JMG encourages career exploration to help youth find their purpose and ignite their passions. Saylar discovered a passion for teaching and enrolled in a CTE program for future educators. Saylar's newfound confidence has shone through and continues to do so as a college student majoring in education at Lake Michigan College. Saylar is a role model and friend to everyone and continues to volunteer and participate in service opportunities, including supporting the local Out Center for LGBTQ youth. Saylar's involvement in the program gave youth at the center the confidence to be themselves and manage their life while pursuing their dreams.
