Nevaeh Stone, JMG youth from Benton Harbor High School, was awarded a $30,000 Whirlpool scholarship.

BENTON HARBOR, MI – Nevaeh Stone, a standout in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program at Benton Harbor High School, was recently awarded a $30,000 Whirlpool Foundation Sons and Daughters Education and Vocational Training Scholarship, joining an elite group of 30 recipients nationwide.


The Whirlpool Foundation recently announced the recipients of its 72nd Annual WHR Foundation Sons and Daughters Education and Vocational Training Scholarship, a program dedicated to supporting the educational aspirations of exceptional students. Stone’s achievement underscores the success of the JMG program in equipping young individuals with the skills needed for future success.


Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates, the premier program of Youth Solutions, is a comprehensive program for youth in and out of schools, helping them identify a pathway for post-secondary success while overcoming individual barriers. Stone’s success exemplifies the program’s commitment to fostering talent and unlocking potential among the state’s youth.


Stone expressed her gratitude for the scholarship stating, "Receiving this scholarship is a dream come true. It validates all the hard work I've put in and gives me the opportunity to pursue my aspirations with confidence." She continued to say “I am now free from stress and full of joy! I thank God everyday for continuously blessing me and my family."


After being accepted into over fifteen universities and receiving over $46,000 in scholarships, Stone has decided to attend Savannah State University in the fall to major in biology.


As part of the JMG program, Stone has showcased her leadership abilities by representing Michigan at the Jobs for America's Graduates National Student Leadership Academy in Washington DC. Additionally, as a member of the Youth Solutions Youth Advisory Council, Stone demonstrates her commitment to making a positive impact within her community and statewide to youth in the JMG network.
