The mentorship program between Benton Harbor High School’s Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program and Whirlpool Corporation is playing a pivotal role in bridging the gap between education and workforce development. Now in its fourth year, the program has impacted over 100 students, providing them with personalized year-round mentoring, meaningful opportunities to connect, plan for their futures, and engage in hands-on learning experiences.
On February 5, as part of the mentoring program, JMG students visited Mosaic CCDA, where they were paired with Whirlpool Corp. mentors, Mosaic staff, and volunteers for a hands-on career exploration experience. This event offered students a unique opportunity to gain practical skills in areas like project management, retail merchandising, sales, and customer service, all while working alongside industry professionals. Other community organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Southwest Michigan, Thread of Hope, Corewell Health, Riverwood, and local banks also contributed resources, further enriching the experience for the students.
At the heart of this initiative is the powerful partnership between Whirlpool Corp. and Youth Solutions, showcasing the impact that collaboration can have on youth development. If you're an employer looking to make a meaningful difference by engaging with local youth, we invite you to partner with us. Together, we can help create valuable connections that will inspire and empower the next generation.
