LANSING — Approximately 250 students from across the state joined more than 100 employers, community volunteers, and key stakeholders in Lansing on March 29 to compete in events at the 9th Annual Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Career Development Conference (CDC). The CDC is a capstone of Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates’ (JMG) year-long programming, allowing students to demonstrate employability skills learned throughout the program.
BENTON HARBOR — It took six seasons for Benton Harbor coach Corey Sterling to put together and train a championship team. It was well worth the wait as the Tigers ended a 53-year drought with a 65-64 overtime win against Grand Rapids Catholic Central for the Class B state title.
Not only was it a historic win for Benton Harbor, but the victory earned Sterling The Associated Press Class B Coach of the Year honor.
BENTON HARBOR — A Kinexus program that works with at-risk young people to make sure they graduate high school will head to Lansing next week to have some of its kids show off the skills they’ve learned. Youth Solutions Incorporated Director Kristin Harrington tells WSJM News the local Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program will take kids from Benton Harbor, Dowagiac, Hartford, and Cassopolis to the 9th Annual JMG Career Development Conference.
